Best weapon ammo to use in FFXII: The Zodiac Age

As a machinist in Ivalice, you are at a disadvantage without the proper ammo for your weapon.

And in this list, we will rank all the ammunition in the game, which should be invaluable in deciding what to buy (or what to look for) along your journey.

Not to mention, whatever weapon you choose can be better paired with different ammunition. So let’s talk about some of the pros and cons of all your options.

8. Onion shot

Let’s start with the obviously weakest round, the Onion Shot.

In some early Final Fantasy games, “Onion” -type classes and armor were often the weakest.

This ammunition is no different.

With only a small attack power of 1, this ammo is the cheapest, but that’s about it. You can get it anywhere, and Balthier starts with it too.

Try to update to the next entry whenever you can.

How to get there: – Bought at any store – Also found in Barheim Passage

7. Silent shooting

This next shot is more interesting than the Onion Shot but no more powerful.

The Silent Shot still has an attack power of 1, but it does have an interesting ability.

There is a 25% chance for this shot to inflict Silence on your enemies on hit.

This can be very powerful early in the game, and even in some later areas with enemies using magic.

How to get there: – Acquired from Necrohol of Nabudis – Also found at Garamsythe Waterway, Ozmone Plain, Phon Coast and Tchita Uplands – Acquired through the bazaar system via Marksman’s Deligh

6. Aqua Shot

The Aqua Shot is the first entry on this list with a much higher attack.

It has triple the power of the previous options, with this ammunition with 3 attack power.

Aqua Shot’s best feature may be obvious, but it also has the Water element as part of the shot.

Any enemy weak in water will have to keep their distance from their machinist with this ammunition.

How to get there: – Acquired from Necrohol of Nabudis – Found in the Garden of Life’s Circle area of Tchita Uplands and in the Lifeless Strand area of Nabreus Deadlands – Also acquired from the bazaar via Rain of Tears.

5. Wyrmfire Shot

Similar to the Aqua Shot, the Wyrmfire Shot has 3 attack power + an elemental effect.

The element of this shot is fire and it can be very damaging to most enemies in the game.

Okay, it takes a bit longer in the story before you can get this ammo, but the wait is worth it.

Just keep in mind that you also have to swap ammunition depending on the weaknesses of each boss.

How to get there: – Bought from Necrohol of Nabudis after the Draklor Laboratory in the main story. – It is located in the southern area of site 6 of the Lhusu mines, and in the area of the first flight of the Spire Ravel of Pharos-Third Ascent.

4. Mud shot

This next post is a little weaker than some other options so far… but it makes up for it in other ways.

The Mud Shot’s attack power is 2.

And the elemental effect of this shot is Earth.

The cool part about this ammo is the 25% chance to blind your enemies. This is a powerful effect that makes up for the lower attack power very well.

How to get there: – Located in the Henne Mines special charter hub area. – Also purchased at the bazaar through Mudslinger.

3. Windbreak trigger

So this shot is definitely powerful, with an attack power of 4.

This is actually one of the most powerful items for weapon ammo in the entire game.

It also has a wind elemental effect that can decimate any enemy weakened by wind. In addition, it combines very well with the Antares pistol, since both are located in the same place.

How to get there: – Found in the Umbra – Southern Pharos area – Subterra – Also acquired from the bazaar through Armor Piercing Shot

2. Dark shot

The dark shot is very similar to the Windbreaker shot, but offers a slightly better elemental effect.

It has the same attack power of 4, making it the other highest attack ammo in the game.

But the Dark Shot, as its name proves, has the Dark elemental effect with its attacks. This pairs nicely with the Arcturus weapon, or the Fomalhaut, to maximize damage output.

How to get there: – Found in the South Liavell Hills area of the Cerobi Steppe and the Abyssal – Northern Pharos area – Subterra – Also acquired through the Piscodaemon hunt.

1. Stone throw

And the ultimate ammo in the game is Stone Shot.

Some may argue that due to its slightly lower attack power, it is not the most effective ammunition …

But I mean, his attack power of 3 is not sad at all.

Because Stone Shot has a 25% chance to inflict Petrify on your enemies. The amount of time it takes your party to invade any enemy affected by Petrify is enough to bring this shot to the top of the list.

This can also maximize the damage output for your machinist when using the Mithuna, which is the strongest weapon in the game.

A perfect pair.

How to get there: – Found in the Terraced Bank area of Cerobi Steppe – Also acquired from the bazaar through Stone Shot
